Al Qaeda's Threat to World Cup

Original article here.

Al-Qaeda in threat to England and USA fans at World Cup

Al-QAEDA have threatened to kill hundreds of fans during England's World Cup match against the US.
The terrorists' north African branch, al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, boasted they would evade security in South Africa by using undetectable bombs.

Security experts fear the match will be targeted because of the symbolic importance of the teams.
And a strike against stars such as John Terry, Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney would cause shockwaves.
Rangers stars Maurice Edu and DaMarcus Beasley could both be in the US team.
A statement in a Jihad magazine said: "How amazing could the match United States vs Britain be when broadcasted live at a stadium packed with spectators when the sound of an explosion rumbles through the stands.

"The whole stadium is turned upside down and the number of dead are in their dozens and hundreds, Allah willing."
The group also told of plans to hit the French, German and Italian teams, adding: "Those nations are part of the Zionist campaign against Islam."
They said: "All the security checks that America will be sending after reading this article would not be capable of detecting how those explosives made it into the stadium."
About 25,000 England fans are expected in South Africa. The nation's opening game is on June 12 near Johannesburg.
Security expert Professor Paul Wilkinson said of the attack threat: "It is genuine. The message may have the effect of mobilising an individual or group to carry out an attack."

J Dissidence:
I remember hearing a similar threat for the Olympics in Beijing a while back. Though, nothing happened, and I have an inkling this is a fear-mongering tactic aswell.

If you wanted to kill and injure as many people as possible at an event with bombs, would you announce it beforehand, alerting security and putting everyone on guard, or would you do it without any prior warning? Obviously the latter. Nothing to see here, gents.
