Nancy Pelosi: Mosque Opposition Should Be Investigated

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi wants an investigation, mosque opposition investigation that is. In an audio interview in San Francisco, Pelosi lamented the fact that she was asked about a New York City “zoning issue” while trying to talk about some of the wonderful San Francisco area projects going on. She also wants to know how this simple “zoning issue” has become a “political issue.”

First of all, if Nancy Pelosi doesn’t see that the ground zero mosque debate is more than a simple New York City zoning issue, the woman is loonier than I suspected. How could she, the President, or anyone else for that matter genuinely categorize the Cordoba Initiative as a simple “zoning issue?” This is disingenuous at best, but I wouldn’t want to accuse the democrats of being untruthful about something.

“There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded,” she said. “How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we’ve been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue inNew York City.”

Nancy Pelosi wants an investigation into Mosque opposition, but not only that she wants to know how this opposition is being funded. Fair enough, Nancy. Let’s disclose how theground zero mosque itself is being funded. Bloomberg thinks that’s un-American. But it’s perfectly alright to want to know how something that 70% of the country is against is being “funded?”
